These Bollywood legends will always be remembered…
1. Reema Lagoo (21 June 1958 – 18 May 2017)
The favourite mother of Bollywood, Reema Lagoo started her career on a Marathi stage. Known for her roles in films like Hum aapke hain koun, Hum sath sath hain, Maine pyaar kiya, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai to name just a few.
She breathed her last at a city hospital following a severe cardiac arrest on 18 May 2017. The news her sudden demise came as a shock to the entire entertainment fraternity. She was just 58 years old.
2. Shashi Kapoor (18 March 1938 – 4 December 2017)
Shashi Kapoor, the son of legendary Prithviraj Kapoor and brother of Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor, was one of the finest actors the Indian film industry has ever seen. He appeared in 168 films which includes large number of Hindi films as well as in various English-language films.
His best performances as solo lead hero in Hindi films were in Neend Hamari Khwab Tumhare, Jab Jab Phool Khile, Haseena Maan Jayegi, Pyar Ka Mausam, Raja Saab etc.
In 2011, he was honoured with the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India for his contributions to Art-Cinema. In 2015, he was awarded the 2014 Dadasaheb Phalke Award, making him the third member of his family to receive the highest award in Indian Cinema after Prithviraj Kapoor and Raj Kapoor.
He was admitted for a reported chest infection at Kokilaben Hospital, Mumbai on 3 December 2017 and died on 4 December 2017 due to prolonged liver cirrhosis.
3. Vinod Khanna (6 October 1946 – 27 April 2017)
Veteran actor and one of Bollywood’s superstars during the 70s and 80s, Vinod Khanna said goodbye to world on 27 April 2017. He was battling advanced bladder cancer for a long while, and was 70 years old.
Khanna made his acting debut in 1968 with ‘Man Ka Meet’. He went on to star in over 141 films, his performances being ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, ‘Mere Apne’, ‘Insaaf’ and ‘Dilwale’ starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol.
