7. Neeraj Vora (22 January 1963 – 14 December 2017)
Actor-director Neeraj Vora, known for films like ‘Phir Hera Pheri’ and ‘Khiladi 420’, passed away at the age of 54.
Neeraj began his career as a writer for TV show Circus in the 90s which also starred Shah Rukh Khan. The multi-faceted artist also dabbled in acting. In 1995 film Rangeela, he made his debut as a writer and also acted in the film.
He went onto work in films like Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, Akele Hum Akele Tum, Virasat, Mann, Satya, Mast, Pukar and Company.
His last film as an actor was Welcome Back (2015). Last year, he had announced Hera Pheri 3 . He had begun the process of making the film when he suffered the heart attack.
8. Sitaram Panchal (1963 – 10 August 2017)
Sitaram Panchal, who acted in films like Bandit Queen, Slumdog Millionaire, Peepli Live and The Legend of Bhagat Singh, Jolly LLB 2, Paan Singh Tomar, lost his life to prolonged illness on April 10th 2017.
He was suffering from lung cancer and also going through a financial crisis. He was 54.
9. Ram Mukherjee (1933 – 22 October 2017)
Producer-director Ram Mukerjee, who was one of the founding members of Mumbai’s iconic Filmayala Studio, died on 22nd October 2017 at the age of 84.
He is known for directing films like Hum Hindustani with Sunil Dutt, Joy Mukherjee and Asha Parekh, and the Dilip Kumar-Vyjayanthimala starrer Leader. Mukerji also bankrolled his daughter Rani Mukerji’s debut film Raja Ki Aayegi Baarat.
